The Expert's Guide to Using Vanilla Bean Powder
Many recipes require vanilla extract that you can easily get from grocery stores. A lesser-known alternative to vanilla extract is vanilla bean powder. Yes! We make it by grinding dried vanilla beans. Vanilla powder is more potent than its extract and does not contain alcohol. Although the vanilla powder is not as widely available as vanilla extract, many specialty stores and online shops like us sell the ingredient.

So, look at the guide where we suggest how to use this powder for baking!

How Can You Use Vanilla Bean Powder In Your Baking Recipes?

Vanilla powder is made of ground vanilla beans. If you are substituting vanilla powder for vanilla extract, we suggest purchasing pure vanilla powder rather than the sweetened option.

Tip no. 1:

Follow your recipe and add the required amount of vanilla powder to it. If you want to use it as a replacement for vanilla extract, you must take half of the called amount. For instance, a recipe that requires 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. You have to use only ½ tsp. of vanilla powder.

Tip no. 2:

You can also use it as a substitute for vanilla bean paste or vanilla beans, although they aren’t as common as the extract. If your recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of the paste, you need to use ½ teaspoon of powder.

Tip No. 3:

Try using vanilla bean powder in white icings to prevent the color tint. This color tint is caused by using dark vanilla extract. You can sprinkle the vanilla powder directly onto waffles, oatmeal, fruit, and other foods. This trick quickly adds a rich vanilla flavor to your meal and makes it mouthwatering.

Tip No. 4:

As it dissolves quickly and does not contain any alcohol, vanilla powder is an ideal ingredient to add to hot drinks such as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

Tip No. 5:

You can also use it in recipes that call for powder or extract. Examples are vanilla pudding mix, petite vanilla bean scones, polish vanilla cookie, etc.

How Does It Taste?

The pure vanilla powder gets made from vanilla beans. It offers an intensely sweet vanilla flavor and aroma. Vanilla powder made with sugar gives a sweeter, milder flavor.
